Hello everyone! I hope you are having a lovely day and are enjoying the end of the year. As Blue Binding is not yet a year old, (it will be in February!) this is my first year-end post. I can’t believe that 2017 is over already! It seems like it just started… Anyways, I’m here to talk about my year in books and blogging and to welcome in 2018!
What I’ve Read
I read 40 books (hopefully 42, there are two that I am trying to finish within the next two days), which consisted of 14,276 pages, according to GoodReads. That seems like a lot of pages, yet I feel like there should have been more. Unfortunately, I was not able to reach my goal of 50 books this year, but I did fairly well considering school was rather difficult and time consuming this semester. I will probably keep this goal for 2018, too.

Highest Rated Books (Favorites for 2017)
- The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
- Warcross by Marie Lu
- P.S. I Like You by Kasie West
- The Selection by Kiera Cass
- Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
- When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
- Shadow Run by Adrianne Strickland
- Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
Lowest Rated (Not-so-Favorites)
- Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
- Because You Love to Hate Me by Ameriie
- The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski
I’m fairly proud to say that I only had one two star rating and no one star ratings! So, it was a pretty good reading year for me!
What I Blogged
I started Blue Binding in February 2017 to share my love of books with other people, and I have done just that. My posts are usually reviews, Top Ten Tuesday topics, or tags.
One of my favorite posts to write this year was my double review for When Dimple Met Rishi and Eliza and Her Monsters. I loved both books, and they went well together in one post. Check it out!
My most viewed post this year was Top 10 Book Recommendations for Star Wars Fans, followed by The Mystery Blogger Award and The Sunshine Blogger Award.
Blogs I Discovered
I have found many blogs that I love to keep reading, but here are some of my recent discoveries! If you have the chance, you should check some of them out!
- Perspective of a Writer (The art is amazing!!)
- Arctic Books
- Read at Midnight (Also really great art!)
- What Wren Reads
- Shaz Reads
- Siobhan’s Novelties
Other Bookish Things
My personal book collection has grown tremendously this year, as I am up to 173 books. Here is my bookshelf as of right now: (there are a lot of books that don’t fit on there)
And here it was as of June 2017: (That is the earliest picture I could find)
June is about when my collection really started to grow. One of my friends told me about Book Outlet, where you can order hardback books in good condition for $5-8. They have “Scratch & Dent” ones that are damaged but sold at an even lower price. There are paperbacks for only a few dollars. I would highly recommend the site, and everything I’ve ordered has been satisfactory.
I would do a book haul, but I’ve added so many books to my collection this year I don’t even know when I got most of them. Maybe I will have to start doing smaller book haul posts in 2018…
I hope everyone has had a wonderful reading year, and is eager for whatever 2018 shall bring. (As of right now, it seems it should be pretty good, book wise!) I hope you all have a safe and happy new year! 🙂
