Hello, Hello! I am super excited to join in on Dani at Perspective of a Writer‘s new weekly meme, I Heart Characters! This started around the end of April, and I thought the idea sounded quite fun when Dani announced it. However, I kind of forgot that I was going to join in until now, but I am eager to be a part of this new meme, and I LOVE characters! I think they are they heart and soul of a book, and you have to have awesome characters to have an awesome book!
I Heart Characters is a weekly meme hosted by Dani where you write about a favorite character that fits the week’s topic. You can choose any day of the week to participate (a part I love!) and link up on Thursday to see what characters other readers are talking about! The theme for May 31st is “Man you want next door,” as in a cool guy who would make an awesome neighbor, and I immediately thought of Kenji from Shatter Me. I have a list of reasons why he is amazing, so read on!
Kenji is hilarious.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE his sense of humor. I literally laughed out loud at some of the things he said, and that doesn’t happen often. If he was my neighbor, I would rarely stop laughing, and he would always be able to cheer me up when I’m down, which leads me to…
Kenji is super supportive.
He constantly wants to help Juliette succeed and be a strong, capable young lady. He is always there for her and the other people around him. Even though he shows his support in more unconventional ways, it is obvious that he cares a lot about all of his friends. I think everyone could use a person like that in their lives.
Kenji makes the perfect friend.
He knows exactly how to cheer someone up when they are sad or angry, and he always brings happiness and fun into a room. He also knows how to use his humor and personality to his advantage, which always makes for fun times! We all want a friend that is funny, smart, and supportive, and you can find that in Kenji!
Kenji also has a soft side.
As much as he likes to hide it, Kenji has gone through some difficult things in his life. He only lets himself be seen this way by very few people, and I think this shows that he has a lot of trust for the people he is closest to. It is important that you can trust the people you are closest to, and I would definitely have faith in Kenji.
Kenji has an awesome power!
SPOILERS AHEAD!! If you have not read Shatter Me and plan to do so, you may want to skip this one!
He has the ability to turn himself and others invisible (if he is touching them)! How awesome would that be? It would be sooo cool to have a neighbor that can turn invisible! Imagine the Halloween adventures!
Who would be your ideal neighboring character? If you’ve read Shatter Me, did you love Kenji as much as I did? Do you think he’d make a good neighbor?
