I Heart Characters: Why I Want to be Annabeth Chase

I Heart Characters

Hello, book friends! I’m really excited for this post because I am sharing some major love for one of my first favorite characters: Annabeth Chase! I am linking up with the I Heart Characters meme, hosted by Dani at Perspective of a Writer. This weekly meme is a great way to share your love of characters through weekly prompts, such as A Woman You Want to Be. (Now, this was technically last week’s prompt, but I really wanted to do it, and I missed it.) Anyways, I am going to share some of the reasons I would want to become Annabeth Chase from the Percy Jackson series!

Annabeth is a Half-Blood.

This is the most obvious quality, yet anyone who ever read the Percy Jackson books wanted to be a Half-Blood by the time they were done reading. It would be amazing to have a godly parent, especially Athena, Annabeth’s mom. Athena is the goddess of wisdom and strategies and general smart things and I would love to have that connection to someone so wise! Not only that, but Half-Bloods get to go to camp and learn all kinds of cool things that are definitely way better than regular school!

Annabeth is smart.

Of course she is smart if she’s a daughter of Athena! She loves figuring things out and solving problems and finding the best strategy. I am pretty smart, but it would be amazing to be a daughter of Athena with Annabeth’s smarts!

Annabeth loves architecture.

I, too, love architecture, as I am pursuing a degree in it! I would love to be able to redesign Mount Olympus as Annabeth has done or be able to design new cabins at Camp Half-Blood. Plus, she also lives in New York, which is full of amazing architecture and design!

Annabeth has Percy!

Ok, how could I not mention her perfect boyfriend, Percy Jackson? Not only is he her boyfriend, but he is her best friend. They have been through so much together, and they can always share jokes and have fun with one another. I would love to have my very very own Percy!

Annabeth is brave.

She is always doing things that are scary and potentially life threatening, but that is just the life of a Half-Blood. Annabeth is willing to face her fears and do seemingly impossible things in order to help her friends. She is able to use her wisdom to her advantage to turn difficult situations into something that can be overcome. I definitely admire her bravery and courage.

Annabeth’s name is similar to mine!

Annabeth, JoBeth… both end in beth! I think it’s a sign that I am definitely meant to be Annabeth in some alternate dimension where books take place!

What female character would you want to be?

  1. Awww this is so cute JoBeth! I actually am one of those backwards readers that has NEVER read Percy Jackson! I know… I am so bad. I did see the movie but I don’t think that counts… I have read countless posts like this extolling the virtues of characters from this universe and I admit that I am totally tempted each and every time to take the dive! ❤️ Thanks for participating it was so fun to read.

    • Thank you! ☺️ Yeah, the movie doesn’t compare to the books, but I don’t hate nearly as much as some other readers do. I would definitely recommend the series if you get the chance to read it! Plus, they’re fairly fast reads! 😄
