Thank You, Next Book Tag

Title Template

Hello, and happy Saturday! I am finally done with school, and am getting settled into a summer routine. This means I will hopefully have more time for reading and blogging in the near future! Until then, I am catching up on some tags! Ash at Once Upon a Bookshelf tagged me for the Thank You, Next book tag back in April, and I am excited to finally get to it! Be sure to check out her blog, too!

1. Name a book you said “thank u, next” to (a book you did not finish)

Unfortunately, I have several DNF books, which is many more than I had a few years ago. I used to be that person that would finish a book even if it took a hundred years, but I’ve learned that there are too many books to be wasting time on ones I don’t enjoy. Anyways, the first one to come to mind is Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. I know this is a majorly unpopular opinion, but I just found the story really slow and boring.

2. Name a book that taught you love (a book you loved)

Most recently, I will go with Emergency Contact by H.K. Choi. I absolutely adored the characters and the fact that they were older, as in college aged and above. They each had their own set of problems and conflicts, but I loved the romance and the emergence of the connections between them!

3. Name a book that taught you patience

Archenemies by Marissa Meyer required a little patience, as I found it kind of slow at times. The same goes for book one, Renegades. I am a little disappointed by this series, since I love the Lunar Chronicles so much, but hopefully the third book will bring it all together.

4. Name a book that taught you pain

Definitely Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I can’t really say much without spoilers, but if you’ve read it you surely know what I’m thinking of… I have to say I was so upset I had to look forward in the book to see what would happen and spoiled it for myself 😦

5. Name a book that you loved at the time of reading, but in hindsight you don’t like as much though you still learned something from it

I read The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O’Brien several years ago and absolutely loved it. However, I really don’t remember what happened or even what the story was about. The few things I do remember aren’t even that interesting, so I have to say it’s not really a favorite any more.

6. Name a book you are currently talking to (have the hots for)

I’m going to interpret this as a book I have yet to read but really want to, so I’m going with Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi. I am soooo eager to read this, but I desperately need a reread of Restore Me so I’m not completely lost.

7. Name the book that gon’ last (the book that helped you love yourself a little bit more)

I have two for this one, though they’re similar: Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. Both had characters that were writers, readers, and full of anxiety. Each book was just so relatable and made me feel a stronger connection to the characters. They created stories that showed it is okay to be who you are even in a world that may say otherwise.

8. Tag someone else!

I tag:

Siobhan at Novelties

Rendz at Reading with Rendz

Kay at Hammock of Books

And anyone else who wants to do this tag!

Chat with me! Have you ever DNF’d a popular book? What are some of your recent favorites?

  1. Thank you for the tag!! I loved reading through your answers. I am hoping I have the patience to get through Archenemies. I did like Renegades but was not the same love I have for TLC! Oh well, we shall see!!
